National Procurement Manager

Duroplastic Technologies is looking for a dynamic, passionate individual to join our diverse team to manage the Procurement function for our national company. Our Head Office is located in Cape Town, with branches in Gauteng, KZN, George and Gqeberha.

The National Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that are innovative and cost-effective. The role will be responsible to source and engage with reliable suppliers and vendors, negotiate with them to secure advantageous terms, and monitor their performance to ensure contractual obligations are met. The National Procurement Manager will also manage the procurement team and oversee the procurement processes and systems.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the manufacturing industry
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective procurement strategies and achieving cost savings.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software and tools
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities and Key Performance Areas

  • Develop and maintain procurement strategies for various categories of goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, spare parts, etc.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and vendors that meet the company’s quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to obtain the best prices, terms, and conditions for the company.
  • Review and evaluate existing contracts and agreements with suppliers and vendors and renew or terminate them as needed.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of suppliers and vendors and ensure compliance with the contract specifications and quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and vendors and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
  • Manage the procurement team and provide guidance, training, and feedback to them.
  • Oversee the procurement processes and systems, such as purchase orders, invoices, payments, inventory, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s policies and procedures, as well as the relevant laws and regulations, regarding procurement.
  • Prepare and present reports and updates on the procurement activities and performance to the senior management and stakeholders.
